Boards in ESOP companies serve shareholders, as they do in all companies. But who should be a part of your ESOP board? Oftentimes, ESOP companies will look internally to build their board. This session discusses the need for the Board to be independent, why that is important, what to think about when looking for external board members and how to leverage his/her strengths to help the Company. You will hear thoughts from the perspective of an independent trustee, as well as a company who utilizes external board members and how doing so has strengthened its board.
