Our guest is Jerry Friends, Production Manager at Thomson-Shore, a 100 percent employee-owned full-service book manufacturing, printing, publishing, production, and distribution company. Jerry Friends spoke with Bret Keisling of Captial Trustees, LLC about Booktoberfest, a celebration of authors, books, art, and bratwurst during October in Dexter, Michigan. They discuss why the personal investment by the employee-owners in Thomson-Shore is part of the reason why Booktoberfest is such a success.
Booktoberfest features industry experts from around the country, offering advice and insight for authors, as well as fun and educational activities for the whole family. Authors even pitch their books to a panel of experts for a chance to win a publishing package from Thomson-Shore! Participants enjoy a day of music, food, and fun, while learning about the ever-changing world of publishing and bookmaking. A portion of proceeds benefits 826 Michigan, a non-profit writing program for school-aged students.
